Hi, I'm Dr. Jane Newblom.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Chadron State College, Chadron, Nebraska; Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Indiana University/Purdue University-Indianapolis; PhD. In Education Leadership from Purdue University.
After working in the world of business as an accountant in various sectors as we moved around the country for my husband’s career, I re-entered the field of education at the middle school level as an English Language Arts/Social Studies teacher. I then was hired to teacher Business Education at the high school level enjoying every minute of this opportunity and was honored to be recognized as Indiana State Teacher of the Year Runner-up.
My education and ongoing desire to make a difference, led me to school administration at the middle school and high school levels. This role allowed me to listen and interact with students, support classroom teachers, and communicate with families and the community.
In retirement, in addition to consulting for Standard for Success, I serve as a mentor for the IASP INALI program for new administrators and act as a student teaching supervisor for Indiana State University. Additionally, I volunteer on the Sheridan Youth Assistance Program Board as secretary. I often tell those who inquire about my retirement, “I miss working with students. Teaching is not a career but rather a life style. Thus, once an educator, always an educator!”
I am married to my high school sweetheart and together we have three married children and five grandchildren. I mostly enjoy spending time with family but entertain myself with reading, gardening, hiking, quilting, and traveling to new and exciting places.
