Equipping Students to Stop Bullies: Standard For Success and The BullyBox partner to give bullied students a voice
Cloverdale, IN – August 3, 2016 – Standard For Success (SFS), an Indiana-based teacher development technology provider, has joined forces with The BullyBox to empower students affected by bullying. The BullyBox provides a forum that allows students—whether victims or witnesses—to anonymously report acts of bullying in a safe and effective manner.
Nearly three out of four students have witnessed bullying in their schools, but only 20-30 percent of bullied students ever tell an adult, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Whether verbal, physical, social or online, persistent bullying triggers feelings of isolation, despair and anxiety, sometimes leading to suicide.
The BullyBox is designed to counter that trend, equipping students to report bullying behavior through the tools they already use most: iPhone and Android smartphones, any web-connected tablet or computer. In addition to reports, students can also supply photographic or video evidence of the incident. Most likely, the image attachment feature will be used to send screenshots of cyberbullying on social media.
“We at The BullyBox are thrilled to work alongside the SFS team to manage our sales and marketing,” says Brandon Boynton, creator of The BullyBox. “By joining forces, we are making it easier for students all over the country to have a voice, escape and prevent bullying through their mobile devices. It’s exciting to be working with SFS to make such a difference in so many students’ lives.”
Standard For Success will leverage its extensive network of administrators and teachers to spread the word about The BullyBox.
“We feel privileged to partner with The BullyBox,” says Todd Whitlock, CEO of Standard For Success. “In addition to enabling students, staff and parents to report bullying and gang activity anonymously, The BullyBox also enables school administrators to track, organize and analyze data on bullying incidents, providing a safer environment for students while remaining compliant with state reporting requirements.”
As an educational company, the partnership with The BullyBox was a natural one: “We’re especially excited to endorse a product that was created by a high school student,” Whitlock concludes.
The BullyBox, already available to nearly 100,000 students in 20 states and four countries, is quickly gaining traction as a viable and discreet method to combat bullying in schools.
