STANDARD FOR SUCCESS PARTNERS WITH VIRGINA SCHOOL DIVISION IN FIRST COLLABORATION WITH ENTITY OUTSIDE OF INDIANA
Goochland County Public Schools uses Standard for Success’ online, mobile platform to meet recently enacted Virginia Department of Education evaluation requirements
INDIANAPOLIS (May 20, 2013) – Standard for Success, an online, fully customizable educator evaluation and management platform, announces a collaboration with Goochland County Public Schools in Goochland, Va., to guide the division’s adherence to recently enacted statewide teacher and principal evaluation models, marking the company’s first collaboration outside of Indiana.
The strategic partnership allows Goochland County Public Schools to meet the new requirements of the Virginia Department of Education’s (VDOE) more stringent teacher and principal evaluation model through Standard for Success’ online portal accessible via a tablet or laptop and which is completely mobile.
In anticipation of the new requirements that went into effect in July, 2012, Goochland partnered with Standard for Success to create a customized, online platform that eliminates the reliance on paperwork and offers a comprehensive tool to conduct evaluations of its 225 teachers and eight administrators.
“This version of the product was built by Virginia educators with Virginia educators in mind,” said James Lane, superintendent of Goochland County Public Schools. “We piloted the software in one school this year and plan to use it in all schools next year.”
The partnership marks the first collaboration with a school entity outside of Indiana for Standard for Success, which is in place in nearly 60 school districts in Indiana. Standard for Success recently partnered with Virginia-based Interactive Achievement to feature its robust data management capabilities.
“In providing our services to Goochland County Public Schools with a strategic partnership, Standard for Success was able to create a customized product tailored to the division’s needs in adhering to the VDOE’s new model,” said Todd Whitlock, co-founder of Standard for Success. “The end result will be stronger classrooms because of the emphasis on professional development accessed through our online platform, which eliminates burdensome paperwork and allows staff to concentrate on the task at hand.”
With its easy-to-use interface, Standard for Success’ program allows for real-time evaluation of teachers while easing the burden on administrators through its diverse management features and archives. Teachers can chart professional development goals and division leadership can view school and division-wide summaries and drill down for specifics on particular groups – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“You can see average ratings across divisions, which can inform the type of professional development that we’re going to do and is something I haven’t seen in any other product,” Lane said. “In this day and age, I don’t know how you can continue to manage this process with paper, with the increased requirements of the new teacher evaluations. Standard for Success will make this a lot easier.”
