In this excerpt from Information Matrix’s “Advancing Education Through Innovation & Technology” episode, Principals Andrea Hunley and Kari Shelton, along with our own Dr. Dianna Whitlock, discuss the incredible importance of teacher evaluations and the technology necessary to solve teacher retention.

Hunley says that in order to provide coaching and mentoring to teachers and staff members alike, accurate and actionable data must be a required result from teacher evaluations. Shelton goes on to add that the quicker the data can be processed through these new technologies, the quicker administrators can execute change within the system.

Dr. Whitlock brings the importance of teacher evaluation home as she connects having a feedback-rich culture to solving the teacher retention crises throughout the nation. If teachers are learning ways they can improve while also being praised for what they’re doing well, it is likely that they will be able to grow in the field and stay, creating a stable environment for the whole system.
